Gas-tronomy! Part 1 - My favourite foods and the month of Ramadan

Ah, yes, food ... Who doesn't love food? And it's high time I talk about the subject on most people's minds anyway ... In light of the fact that the month of Ramadan has arrived for people of the Islamic faith to detoxify their bodies and cleanse their spirits with acts of charity, devotion and sincerity in belief, I thought it'd be nice to not swear for 29/30 days (Ramadan 1435H is projected to end 27 July 2014 over here) by talking about one favourite Brainjuice food for every day of the fasting month ... Not swearing will be hard for Brainjuice, but trust me, fasting is lot harder for the reasons mentioned above ... This also means that Brainjuice will not swear on the other blog, God help me ... Hmm, does 'damn' count? ... Damn ... Alright, indeed it will be a difficult task to talk about 29/30 favourite Brainjuice foods, but Brainjuice will prevail, God-willing ... Why am I talking in the third person? ...
This is a favourite childhood comfort food ... I'm not sure whether Nestum is available in other parts of the world, but over here, it's as well known as Milo ... I have it with sweetened condensed milk, thereby ensuring once and for all that I will never attain that Victoria Secret Angel body ... Oh well, I take comfort in the fact that although Nestum will not make me happy forever and ever, it cheers me up on a bad day :) ...
Ah yes, my sodium fix ... I can tell you that I've laid off the chips for a month now, ever since I stopped going to the gym (Not working out = stricter diet, especially because I'm no spring chicken anymore) ... But because I need to fill about 30 Brainjuice favourite foods here, might as well talk about another childhood comfort food ... So today splurged a bit on a packet of M&S crisps, alright people who speak American English ... And what better crisps than with FOUR CHEESES ... Nooo, I cannot say no to dairy ... Alright, alright, cool the drama a bit there, BJ ...

Btw, that's a knock-off Ted Baker ... But it's still a bit pricey ... Hang on here, Brainjuice, you're supposed to talk about your favourite foods here, not your endless collections of bags!
This pix was indeed taken in 2008, when the Swedish meatballs at IKEA's restaurant were still good ... The balls were juicy (More points down for me as I have just made a very blatant sexual innuendo, giving rise to temptation that leads to lust and, well, you know what happens), the potatoes were real potatoes, the gravy was thick, and the cranberry sauce ... Well, I don't really take my balls with cranberry sauce ... Recently, I had the same meal at the IKEA restaurant ... The balls have shrivelled and lost their elasticity, the potatoes were mashed up and not even thick and creamy, the gravy so-so ... That's what I think anyway ... The cranberry sauce still looked the same though ... Luckily, IKEA is so far at the other side of town that I don't feel the need to have what used to be a favourite and would have remained a favourite if they had stuck to the original recipe ...
Nevertheless, the newer bigger IKEA has a section where it sells hot dogs, curry puffs and soft serve, in addition to Swedish condiments, snacks and frozen food, among others, in the area right in front of the check-out counters ... I like the hot dog only because they have mustard! The local stores of a pretty well known American sub chain used to have mustard, but they replaced it with honey mustard ... WTF! (Technically, that's not swearing) ... I like my cold meats and sausages with plain mustard ... It adds a certain zing ... Not some pussy condiment like honey mustard (Okay, maybe some people like honey mustard, sorry) ... The IKEA hot dog stand also has relish ... Sausage + mustard + relish = pure gold ... Let's hope they keep serving it the way it is ... Overheard some ladies saying how turned off they were by the strong smell of the relish ... Pussies ... Okay, calling people names, more points lost ...
Pizza! Who doesn't love pizza ... Well, actually my second brother doesn't like pizza, or most Western foods ... Mom: Classic hand-tossed Aloha Chicken, Brainjuice: New York crust beef pepperoni ... I don't understand pineapples on pizza ...
I used to like this pie ... But, tastes change over time, y'know ... However, the fact that I still keep the photo goes to show that I really liked this pie back then ...
Hmmm, yummy :) ... Hot choc with cheese toastie ... One of my all-time favourite brekkies ...
Nasi Lemak ... Literal translation: Fatty Rice ... My mom likes to make nasi lemak ... Too bad I'm not having any of hers anymore as I have moved out of fricking KL ...
My favourite Malaysian breakkie ... Roti telur with kuah dhal and chili ...
