Is name calling a socially acceptable norm on the Internet?

I delibarated on putting up this screenshot of a so-called conversation I had with "Joe" on FB regarding a sign on sites such as Imgur, but I think a lot of people would have agreed with "Joe" about it being okay to name-call a perfect stranger online for no reason at all ... Look at all the 'likes' he gets for his comments, then look at all the 'likes' I get for mine ... The question is, what was the message that this Joe wanted to send? I never bothered finding out because I think it's a waste of time responding to such people .... So what if I didn't know how Christopher Walken talks, there is no acceptable reason, in my opinion, to simply call someone you don't know at all with derogatory names ... At least "Nathan" signs off his remark with an emoticon of a smiley face with tongue sticking out, showing that he was saying it in jest ... What do you think? Forget it, I think there's hardly any people who read my blog, so I'll just put up the aforementioned screenshot so that people who do come across this post might think about it ...
