Gas-tronomy! Part Deux - Brainjuice is a picky wabbit ...

I am not a foodie, but I feel that it all has to do with how much you love food and the passion you feel for it, despite the fact that you may not be such an expert in all matters culinary ...

I haven't actually read the gastronomical adventures of those the likes of Anthony Bourdain,

(Btw, have you watched TLC's The Layover? Don't you just love it ... It's just basically seeing Anthony Bourdain getting drunk at all his layover stops in major global cities and the things he says, and quite a bit of it blipped out, I might add .... I hope the Travel Channel doesn't come after me on this, then again maybe that's the whole purpose of the show - to see Anthony Bourdain get drunk and say and do the things he says and does ...),

but I'm pretty sure it's just more than expressing their taste at the molecular level ... I mean, what does food actually mean to you other than a basic means of survival? .... Do you live for food, or because of it? OhmyGod, your questions are so mind-blowingly profound, Brainjuice ...

Based on the latest figures available from World Food Programme, I doubt 842 million people across the globe would care how their food taste like, as long as they have something to eat, right? ... When malnourishment affects just under one billion people, or nearly one-seventh of the world's population, things like how the different layers of flavour affect the tastebud would be the least on their minds ... But don't you think that at least a few of these 842 million people would enjoy the food they get if the meal has at least a dash of taste? ... I have this feeling that some of the food packages that arrive by humanitarian aid actually have the taste of cardboard and the texture of dried-out sponge ... There has yet to be a reality lifestyle programme that sees the host, a well-known chef perhaps, going around cooking delicious meals for malnourished kids, is there? ... I could be so wrong on this, though ...

Anyway, I am not one to ponder too much on the issues of the world, basically because I'm a selfish git ...

You know what, I know jack about food, and as much as I want to share with the world my preferences for all things gastronomically molecular, in the end saying such things would make me look like a pathetic fool who wants to be seen as a food connoisseur, which I am not ... All you have to know is that I am very picky when it comes to food, and that makes me one who is not adventurous, unlike Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern ...

Yup, that's my two cents on food ... But, I'm pretty sure in future posts I'll talk about which foods I like and which ones I don't ...
