You know why ... Because over the years I have been throwing/giving away my stuff, or more aptly, my junk ... As I grow older and think more and more of my mortality, I realise that I can't take all this junk with me ...
But like all other human beings, I like to collect ... Books, CDs (yes, I am a dinosaur), DVDs, bags, shoes, Daiso stuff ... The list goes on ... So, in view of the new year, I have decided that I'm done with most of my books, ALL of my CDs, quite a large number of my DVDs, nearly all of my bags, almost all of my shoes, and most of Daiso stuff ... Yes, I plan to give them away ... I'm sure the public library would take in the books and perhaps the DVDs ... Not so sure about the CDs ... But first I have to get a new laptop to convert all my CDs into MP3s ... And all the DVDs still with me into MP4s ... Hmmm, I just found out that this is not possible with Windows Media Player ... I would have to download one of those free conversion softwares, and I don't like any of them ... I've sold my HP laptop 'coz it doesn't have Windows Media Player, or any legit MP3/MP4 playing device ... The shop at Low Yat plaza that took in my HP laptop also sells second-hand laptops ... The guy I talked to was friendly and very helpful ... I'm sure he will let me test the laptop first before buying ... So, what I'm gonna do is bring a DVD with me and see whether the laptop's Windows Media Player can convert DVD into MP4 ... Again, like I just said, not possible ... Don't make much, so the CDs and the remaining DVDs will be with me for awhile until I save enough money to get a second-hand laptop that is still good and with legit software ... Hopefully, God-willing ...
As for my bags ... Yes, I have given away most of them ... In a previous post, I talked about my addiction to bags ... But, thank God, the addiction has passed ... I still keep my most expensive bag ever, which is the Michael Kors bag I talked about in that post ... However, after almost a year of using it, the chain link got loose and detached from the hook ... I don't even remember where I placed the signature MK logo chain ... Oh well, anyway, I'm gonna get this bag fixed because it's still in very good condition ... I can take it to a bag repair shop, or to save money, I can get a carabiner large enough to hook the strap back to the bag ... If only I know where to get said carabiner ...
And here it is, fixed the issue with a carabiner |
My love affair for Daiso has also dissipated, and I've given away almost all the things I bought there ...
Anyways, the collection I want to talk about is my perfume collection ... Yes, I love perfumes ... I love a good scent, especially when I spray it on me and start my day ... It makes me feel fresh and nice-smelling ... That, plus the fact that I have an issue concerning body odour ... I no longer use spray deodorant, because of the environment and it actually makes my underarm hair grow faster, so I'm done with spray deodorants ...
In the last, ooh, 20 years, I've bought quite a number of perfumes of various high-end brands ... I never buy the same brand twice, though I almost bought another SJP perfume some time ago ... I cannot remember the number of the perfume brands I've bought, but I recall having bought Clinique Happy, Chloe, Moschino and L'Occitane en Provence , among others ... Anyway, the photos below will show you the bottles that I've kept over the years, starting with the Issey Miyake one, which I think I bought in my early 20s ...
I'd like to think I have a nose for scents ... I'm always looking for something unique, and unique to me means notes of floral, woody and musky ...
But, most importantly, I thank God for my gift of smell ... He may have taken away my sleep, but He let me keep one of the most precious sensations given to Man: the olfactory sensation ... Without this, you not only can't smell food, but also can't taste how good the food is, and imagine the misery of having to eat with no sense of how it tastes like ...
In fact, I think I have such a sensitive nose that one day I decided I would use bleach to clean my bathroom ... I poured a little bit into a container filled with some water, and added a little bit of the cleaning solution I always use to clean my bathroom ... I don't know whether it was the combination of bleach and that cleaning solution, or bleach itself, but after awhile, the noxious fume affected me physically in such a terrible way so much so it's safe to say that I will NEVER use bleach again to clean my bathroom ... EVER ... I wonder whether criminals clean their crime scenes with bleach using gas masks, especially where blood is involved ... They never show that bit in any of the crime scene procedural TV shows ...
Anyway, here are the photos ...
Btw, I also like to collect folders with cute pictures on them ...
