Conditional Movement Control Order & Shopping ...

On May 4th, I started work again ... After seven weeks of enjoying the bliss of staying at home (even though some symptoms of cabin fever had developed), I thought starting work was going to be tough ... I mentioned in a prior post that I had some sort of insomniac episode going on, and it had gotten worse the day I started work, so much so that I took leave the very next day and went to the hospital to get advice from the doctor ... I told the doctor that I found it difficult to fall asleep and when I did, I only slept for an hour or two, then I would abruptly wake up in the middle of the night and find it difficult to continue sleeping ... I was also suffering from terrible shakes because of the medication ... It is embarrassing for me to work, cutting cloth in front of the customer, when I am shaking badly ... I thought the doctor wouldn't understand my problem and said that I should just continue with the anti-depressant Luvox that they had prescribed for me ... But luckily I got an understanding doctor this time, who prescribed me diazepam ... I was instructed to take it as and when needed ... Also, my mother told me to drink warm milk before going to bed ... The diazepam and warm milk combo seemed to work wonders because I finally slept longer ... It wasn't a full six hours of sleep, in fact just about four hours or so, but I regard it as a blessing ... Finally I had enough rest and was able to repeat the same pattern for the next few days without the aid of diazepam and warm milk ... Maybe it was because my body has gotten used to the rhythm of work and work itself tires me, so therefore I finally am able to sleep longer ... Whatever it is, thank God ...

May 4th was also the beginning of Conditional Movement Control Order, which will last until June 9th ... During this time, we are to adhere to strict SOPs pertaining to social distancing while at work ... Temperatures would be taken and recorded at intervals and we are to distance ourselves from customers ... I can tell you that Malaysians have no regard for social distancing ... They still crowd a section of the shop where the Baju Melayu for men are sold ... Since Hari Raya Aidilfitri is coming, customers flock to this section ... With three or four sales assistants manning this section, keeping a safe distance between each other is difficult ... The section where I'm stationed is very near that section, so I had no choice but to periodically walk into another section or other ... This proves to be fortuitous actually as I am able to sell high-priced items such as curtains and high-value  printed cloths as opposed to the cheap materials that I am stationed at ...

On my day off, which was yesterday, I went to the post office to renew my license, which expired on my birthday, so I had been driving around with an expired license ... Then I went to the motorcycle workshop to service my scooter ... Then I made a bold decision ... I rode all the way to KLCC to do some shopping ... I miss shopping ... After more than a month of no outside activity, I found my shopping trip to be ... refreshing ... Where does the money come from? Well, I applied for the government's economic stimulus package and got some windfall here and there ... There's the Employee's Provident Fund and the Bantuan Prihatin Nasional, so I applied for both ... It isn't a lot but enough to tide me over from month to month ... While I was at KLCC, I noticed that there were fewer people and some of the shops still closed ... I looked with forlorn at the closed cinema ... Don't know when it will re-open ... Probably in June ... Miss watching movies at the cinema, but Hollywood has delayed all new releases ... This is probably better talked about on the other blog ... Otherwise, my shopping trip was fabulous ... I didn't spend such a long time looking at things ... I reached there around 12.00 something and by 3.00pm I was home ... I also bought underwear, which I didn't take a photo of as it is inappropriate ... If there's some sleazebag reading this blog, you can just forget about it ...

There was a lack of new reading materials during the lockdown, so here's some new books to satisfy my craving ... Actually, I miss Kinokuniya, so that's why I rode all the way to KLCC ... I could've purchased books online, but Amazon is out of the question due to the expensive shipping and there is a lack of choice with the local online bookstore ...
I have an obsession with Uniqlo's drape jogger pants ... This is my fourth, and hopefully the last one I will buy, but knowing myself, I'd probably find another reason to purchase more stuff at Uniqlo ...
