Phase II
Before
Well, I have been pretty busy of late trying to find the right items for my spanking brand new room ... Have hired a contractor, who, God-willing, will do the job just before Valentine's Day so that I could have the room ready by the day when every couple on earth will be busy making with each other while I will be busy making out with myself ... Haha, got you there ... Oh, well, I think I saw on American TV the other day that Valentine's Day is also known as Singles' Awareness Day, which is just a sad way of saying that we haven't been lucky as much ... But we have luck in other things, such as having the room, the bathroom, the remote, the fridge, the whole shebang ALL TO OURSELVES ... So, yeah, it's a lonely life, but it holds a lot of possibilities ... for untold crazy things that one cannot do with a clingy, self-absorbed, namby-pamby partner ... Hang on, hang on, hang on, you're supposed to be talking about your Major Room Makeover, BJ ... Oh yeah, that ...
Well, I've bought all the light fixtures for the room, two of which will need to be fixed in by the contractor ... And here is the result, or at least partial result of adding such light fixtures ... Bear in mind though that the room in question is still in in makeover mode, so a lot of things are still lying around, some of which have ended outside of my room, much to the chagrin of mother dearest ...

With the exception of the lamp on the nightstand, all lights in my room, including those that have yet to be fixed in, come from IKEA .. That is why I decided to purchase a frilly, feminine-looking bedside lamp that definitely is not from IKEA, because I do not want my room to look straight out of an IKEA catalogue ... Having said that, all the furniture, except the bed and its nightstand, as well as the custom-made fixed-in cabinet/wardrobe, which you can see in a previous post, are from IKEA ... Have to hand it to IKEA, their furniture are easy-to-assemble, even for a puny 5-footer like me ... |

And here is the result of my arrangement of IKEA furniture and lighting ... Straight out of an IKEA catalogue, isn't it? Now you can see the entertainment system I've been talking about in a previous post, which is a flat-screen 24" LED TV ... I am contemplating of installing a hi-fi amplifier so that it will truly become a home, or rather, Brainjuice's room entertainment system ... Just imagine, Brainjuice lying on the bed, propped up with a large, comfy cushion, watching movie marathons in HIGH DEFINITION WITH QUALITY SOUND, while munching on her secret stash junk food that is stowed on the shelf below the coffee table ... My own private movie theater ... Aaah, this is the LIFE ... And yes, I now have two bookcases so that I have more room for MORE BOOKS :p ... |

I just love, love the LED lighting ... When all other lights are turned off, I can really turn my room into a mini movie theatre with the aid of the LED lighting which makes my entertainment section look pretty and most importantly, gives some subdued lighting ... I don't mind watching movies in complete darkness at the cinema itself because of the really, really huge screen, but with a small screen, I prefer to have some lighting is not too bright but just enough to give the impression that I am in a movie theatre, or cinema ... The idea of using outdoor lighting indoors came to my head when I passed by a Typo store in KLCC one day ... They were selling these mini paper lanterns complete with fairy lights ... I love the idea of the paper lanterns, but didn't like the fairy lights as they have a tendency to burn out real quick, as you all may know .... So, looked for ideas online, and came up with LED lighting, which I don't think is a new idea as people have been using these lights indoors ... So, when I went to IKEA`the other day and gawked at their lighting section, I saw these gold-silver LED lights in pretty-shaped baubles ... For all you know, they might actually be Christmas decoration, but with my own twist, they now have become part of Brainjuice's room entertainment system :D ... |
